It was always important to me that my family continue to be an important part of who I am and what I stand for. As I grew up my oldest sister and I grew closer in similarity. Although she is four years older than me, we look as though we are twins and therefore have an unbreakable bond that has strengthened our relationship. I see strength in standing together and as we face similar challenges and obstacles, we only strengthen our similarities.

Masking became mandatory so our eyes became our main source of communication.

Life works in weird ways, and each decision we make has led us to who we are today. I wanted to explore that feeling as a visual manifestation of one path leading to the present. The simplicity of a line can quickly become complex as the paths we follow overlap and change.

This exercise was intended to learn the blending and layering capacity of colored pencils as well as the importance of details. The details within an image/object can easily be overlooked by the human eye as we get used to the things we see. When the subject is portrayed as an art piece the details ignored in everyday life are crucial to acheive likeness. Viewers may not recognize the details but the lack of details will leave the subject feeling "off" or "missing something".
