An introduction to the study of letter forms for their aesthetic and communicative value. It includes exploration of design principles as they apply to visual communications and problem-solving using computer applications. Typographic fundamentals of the history of type, classification, visual space, hierarchy, grid systems and expressive typography will be explored.

Project Brief : For this project, you will work as a designer and author. I want you to write an article for a graphic designer, artist, or typographer. The article should be about 3-4 pages and should tell the reader about the career and work of that particular designer or artist. Then, I want you to design 6-page spreads for your article. It should show us work by your chosen designer and be inspired by that designer's work. Consider the following details as you work: typography, color, composition, margins, photography, and hierarchy.
